
After more than two years of dedicated leadership, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi steps down as Chairman of the Forum of Chief Executive Officers of State Social Health Insurance Agencies (SSHIAs), leaving behind a legacy of collaboration, innovation, and progress toward Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria.
During his tenure, Dr. Onyemaechi championed strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening state health insurance systems, expanding healthcare access, and fostering stronger partnerships among key stakeholders in the health sector. Through his leadership, the Forum continued to advance its mission of making quality healthcare more accessible and affordable for citizens across the country.

His commitment to stakeholder engagement, system strengthening, and sustainable healthcare financing helped position the Forum as a critical platform for advancing health insurance coverage and improving health outcomes nationwide.
As he concludes his tenure, members of the Forum have expressed appreciation for his unwavering dedication and the significant strides made under his leadership.
Taking over the mantle of leadership is Mohammed Safana, Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, who has been elected as the new Chairman of the Forum of CEOs of SSHIAs.

Having served as Vice Chairman I over the past two years, Mohammed Safana has played an active role in supporting the Forum’s objectives and advancing collaboration among State Social Health Insurance Agencies. His wealth of experience, strategic vision, and commitment to healthcare innovation are expected to guide the Forum through its next phase of growth and impact.
The Forum also congratulates Dr. Divine Igwe, Executive Secretary of the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency, on his first time appointment to the Forum EXCO as the Vice Chairman II. His appointment further strengthens the leadership team as it continues to drive initiatives that improve healthcare access and financial protection for citizens.

As one chapter closes and another begins, the Forum remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding health insurance coverage, strengthening healthcare systems, and advancing the collective goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage for all Nigerians.
